The Benefits Of Olive Oil

So the cheapest beauty essential!!! (and it is probably sitting in your kitchen)

Olive oil has been around for hundreds of years and used by most of the population… for COOKING! but this is not a cookery blog!

The benefits of using olive oil:

extra virgin olive oil has the added advantage of providing strong antioxidants, like Vitamins A and E that help repair and renew skin that has been damaged from overexposure to sun, air pollution, and other modern-day environmental hazards

For Hair

I love to treat my hair to a good nourishing treatment once a month as i use a hair dryer and curling wand which all damage hair. I usually warm the oil slightly using a bain marie style method. (i do this so the consistency of the oil is slightly thinner) I then apply to the ends on my hair and use a brush to comb through. (as my hair is fine i try to keep as little near the roots as possible to prevent it for being flat)….. Leave for 15 – 30 mins and remove.

Removal Of Oil From Hair

I was told by my hairdresser NOT to stick my head straight under the shower as it is oil the water will just run off and you will still be left with a lot of product left on your hair. You MUST apply shampoo to dry / oily hair and massage in to break the oil down. Then introduce little amounts of water until you get a lather.

I generally shampoo twice to make sure i have removed all traces of oil.

Then style as normal. ( your hair should look and feel silky smooth)

Skin Cleanser

Olive oil makes a wonderful cleanser for all skin types. Olive oil dissolves dirt and makeup from your face, leaving your skin clean and radiant. A healthy complexion is just one of the benefits of olive oils.

Pour about 2 tablespoons of olive oil into your hands and apply to your face, massaging the oil into your skin. Take a clean washcloth and run it under warm water. Ring out the excess water, place the washcloth on your face and let sit for a couple of minutes, letting the heat work with the oil on your skin. Use the washcloth to wipe the excess oil off your skin, rinse with cool water, and pat dry.

Chapped Lips

One of the great benefits of olive oils is the ability to soften dry, chapped lips. Simply smooth on a dab of olive oil when your lips feel in need of moisture.

Full Body Moisturizer

Pour about 1/2 cup of olive oil into a warm bath and soak in it for at least 30 minutes. Add a few drops of essential oil for scent if you like. Lavender and rose oil are both soothing and great for dry skin. Gently dry your skin when you’re done, and luxuriate in the silky feel of your skin.

So there is a few options and methods of using olive oil, Why not give it a try?
