Sponge foundation applicators have quite a selection of mixed reviews which is what prompted me to give this a go! I wanted to know if i ‘love it or hate it’. I must admit i have never tried applying foundation with a one of these types of sponges before, oh apart from the horrible ones you get a Beauty college you know the triangular blocks, they are not too great to use!
The Real Techniques sponge is designed to be used wet or dry, it has a flat edge for applying foundation to the larger areas, a pointed end to get closer to the eyes when applying concealer and a domed side for all over use. I found the sponge quite fiddly and quite time consuming which i put down to my inexperience, although I found that flat edge really useful for cream blushes as you can dab it on rather than using your fingers.
I applied my Rimmel Match perfection foundation with the sponge which gave me a heavier look than i am normally used too. I think that type of look would be really good for a night out but for me it was too much for the daytime.
Please do not let this review put you off Real techniques – I absolutely LOVE the brushes. have a lot of them! I use the Real Techniques buffing brush for my foundation application which i find brilliant, not too sure what i would do without it now! The other reason that i will no longer be using the sponge to apply my make up is because my dog ate it – Great Thanks Archie!!!
