When it comes to makeup I am pretty easy to please, I don’t wear fancy eyeshadows or heavily contour my face basically because its too much of a effort. What I do like however is a nice, even base. Its easier said than done to achieve a flawless base and you can spend quite a bit of time creating a even finish. I have spend a fair amount of money looking for the perfect products that are lightweight but give sufficient coverage. I have got some pretty great products at the moment that I am really happy with, My skin is even so these products allow me to fake it in the flawless skin department…
Step 1: Prep & Prime.
Priming is something I do occasionally if I remember however if you are wanting your base makeup to last all day then a primer might be a great idea. I actually use the Becca Backlight Priming Filter. It gives radiance to sallow, dull skin and it also holds my makeup well. I don’t tend to use this near my T-Zone as it is already slightly oily but there are loads of products around for different skin concerns. If you don’t want to use a primer, make sure you use a good hydrating moisturiser so your base makeup will not go patchy in dry areas.
Step 2: Foundation
There are a couple of foundation / bases that I really rate. I am currently obsessed with the It Cosmetics CC cream in Light however I also really love the Too Faced Born This Way foundation & the Dior Forever foundation. All three of these bases gives great longevity, coverage and a even finish. If I want a really flawless finish I apply my foundation with my Beauty Blender / Real Techniques sponge, I tend to use these damp. If I am in a bit more of a rush I like to use my Bobbi Brown full coverage brush. If you don’t have and makeup tools fingers are great applications for makeup!
Step 3: Concealer
I think Concealer is amazing for giving under eyes a lift and hiding those pesky spots. I only got this Nars Soft Matte Concealer the other day but I really like using it already. I have the colour Cannelle. I like to apply this with my ring finger as the formula is fairly hard and needs a bit of warming up, but I find this sits really well on my under eye area and darkness is improved in an instant! I also love the Urban Decay Naked Concealer and the Clarins Instant Concealer.
Step 4: Set.
With me having a combination skin I always have to use powder to set my makeup. I use a really light fluffy brush and sweep a bit of the Bobbi Brown sheer Finish Loose powder over my T-Zone using the remainder of the product from the brush on my cheeks, I don’t want these to be too flat matte so I am careful not to be too heavy handed. I also really like the Bourjois Healthy Mix powder and the Hourglass Ambiant Lighting Powder in Dim Light.
These products are tried and tested and I really like how the look on my skin. What do you use to get a ‘perfect’ base?
