It’s Friday, The weekend is up and what better way to celebrate than with an ice cold G&T. Over the past couple of weeks, I have been trying out the gorgeous range of gins from Derbyshire distillery and boy these are good! So I have to admit, I am a little fussy when it comes to my Gin. The sweet type, that is more like drinking syrup, Yeah, that just isn’t for me. I am totally here for a well blended smooth Gin which is what you get with these Chesterfield Gins.
Derbyshire Distillery was established in early 2018 with one simple aim: to produce fantastic gins, vodkas and liqueurs using the best local and international ingredients and fresh, cool Derbyshire water.
Using a combination of traditional copper alembic stills and state-of-the-art Genio Still, they have created beautifully crafted, small-batch spirits, whose demand continues to grow across Derbyshire and the Peak District.
They currently have 7 Gins in their range. Chesterfield Dry Gin, Chesterfield Pomegranate Gin, Chesterfield Lemon Sherbert Gin, Chesterfield Berry Burst, Ashbourne Gin & Derbyshire Dry Master Blend & a brand new flavour, Strawberry Candy Floss. I was lucky enough to try 3 of the blends from the range and I definitely have a favourite. The Lemon Sherbert! I could actually drink this neat on the rocks. so let’s discuss it further.
This 40% Vol. Blend Is fresh & zesty which I think is just perfect for those summer G&T’s it has been created with the Chesterfield, distilled lemons with the botanicals being juniper, Coriander, Angelica, Orris Root, Cassia Bark, Ginger, Cardamon, Hibiscus, Lemon. I used Fever tree regular tonic water where you could get the hint of lemon & I also mixed it with Fever Tree Elderflower Tonic water which was fruity & flavourful. this is 100% going to be my summer tipple of choice as it’s probably one of the nicest gins I have tasted.
This is one I have been asked about most on my facebook & Instagram stories when I posted a sneaky picture. The ever so slightly sweetened berry flavoured gin is pretty as a picture with edible (obviously!) glitter when you shake the bottle. People are fascinated about this when you pop the bottle in the middle of the table during a girls night. If you are a serious gin drinker, Don’t be put off by the thought of this being a sweet sickly gin. It is beautifully balanced especially when served with regular tonic water.
This is one for the real gin aficionado. I class this as a proper gin, It’s smooth & well balanced making it a great after dinner tipple just with ice. Its a beautiful gin for those looking for a more premium blend.
How to make the perfect G&T…
1 x Your favourite Gin (Mine is the lemon Sherbert, Obviously!
2 x Lemons (One for slices, One for the rind.
1 x handful of frozen Blueberries.
Lots of ice & a good Glass.
Add it all together, voila!
I love to get behind local brands, Yorkshire is full of creative and inspiring people who delivery the good, especially when it comes to Gin. I can’t wait to work with Derbyshire Distillery in the future. I little birdie has mentioned that they are looking to open up the factory to allow the customer to blend their own gin, How awesome would that be!
